Get Rich Pins

Rich pins are a Pinterest feature that lets you add more information on the pins you create. These pins are meant to provide better results for content creators and greater details to followers. You can use this feature to insert your primary keywords and optimize your Pinterest content. There are five types of rich pins, these are:

Article pins: includes the headline, URL, author, and article description

Product pins: Availability, pricing, where to buy, and relevant product infos

Recipe pins: list of ingredients, cooking instructions, and serving tips

Movie pins: movie titles, cast members, and movie reviews

Get the photo dimensions right

Pinterest works as a search engine for images, so it’s not surprising that there are guidelines to image ratios. To attract online users, your images should stand out in the searches. Vertical pins with an aspect ratio (height and width of an image) of 2:3 or 1:3.5, and a minimum width of 600 pixels work best. Remember, pins tend to be cut off in the feeds if the ratio is greater than 1:3.5, so create the right-sized images to attract more attention.

While descriptions are only about 75-100 characters in grid view, as much as 500 could appear when people click to see the pin up-close. While short descriptions get a lot of clicks, long keyword-rich descriptions extend the life of the pins. Also, these perform better on search engines. Add a shortened link to every pin because Pinterest makes the links bold in the description, something that draws the eyes in. 

Go for mosaic posts

The most popular posts on Pinterest are mosaics. Mosaics consists of multiple images within a pin + a walkthrough. Mosaics are best for DIY posts and how-to guides. When posting mosaics, keep the number of images four or fewer. Again, you can use any photo editing tool like Photoshop or Canva to create the images for the mosaic. 

Use a text overlay on pins

Pins with a text overlay is a popular format on Pinterest; it gets a ton of likes and repins! A text overlay consists of a headline or description referencing the pin or the full article. Use a photo editing tool to add a text overlay to your images. Be sure that the text overlay’s size, style, and orientation look good on the image; none of the texts are cut off or too big. 

Add a Pin for Later Link

Each time you post a new blog on social media, add a pin for later or read it later so that your followers can catch up on your new content easily. To do this, pin an image for the new blog, then grab the URL for the pin. Share the URL along with the blog post as a “pin for later “ on your social media; that’s it. Viewers could simply save your pin to their respective boards and return to your content at a later time when they’ll be able to sit down and focus on it. 

Optimize board descriptions with primary keywords

Adding target words like social media, online marketing, or Facebook on a board helps organize your content so viewers can find your content easily.
