Reading Time: 3 minutes

How can you use Pinterest to its fullest to generate more leads and grow your business? Here are traffic-generating tips that you should try on Pinterest right NOW!

Pinterest has changed so much over the years. The platform now works as a search engine for images. If you’re a long-time Pinterest user, you know that fresh content and new pins are the way to generate traffic on this platform. On Pinterest, the images lead users to the business’ websites, and getting many clicks means better conversion for your business.

So how can you use your pins to increase your website traffic and attract more followers? Try these tips:

Optimise Your Profile for SEO

SEO is still the most effective way of getting the word out about your business. And since Pinterest has transformed itself into a search engine for images, SEO remains an essential part of any marketing campaign. You have to integrate your keywords and keyword phrases in all Pinterest content, including your boards, pins, and profile.

Some of the areas you need to optimize are:

Image Title: Keep the title short, catchy, and well-written. Add one keyword that’s relevant to your niche.

Bio: Your profile description should describe what your business is all about using searchable terms. Insert your keyword and keyword phrases for searchability.

Board Names: The board names should comprise words that your target audience is likely to use when searching for images similar to yours.

Board Descriptions: The board descriptions should be descriptive and straightforward to help Pinterest determine what your content is all about. Use several keywords and keyword phrases in the descriptions for searchability.

Pin Descriptions: Use a combination of specific and general keywords in your pin descriptions to achieve maximum searchability across all searches.

Apart from optimizing your Pinterest content, it’s equally important to switch to a business profile instead of a personal profile. This way, you can set up the analytics and generate better results with your SEO and marketing campaign.

Image Quality and Format

Optimizing your images on Pinterest starts by using high-quality, visually-appealing images. You can use royalty-free images or hire a professional to shoot beautiful (and unique!) photos for your website.

Using the preferred format is also a great way to grab attention on Pinterest. Vertical pins take more space, so images in vertical formats tend to stand out on the Pinterest search pages. By taking up more space in the searches, you can compel more people to click the images. You can use image-editing apps like Canva to create visually-stunning pins in the most popular formats for better SEO results.

Set a Goal

Now that your Pinterest profile and pins are optimized, it’s time to outline your SEO strategy to grow your account and attract MORE traffic. You need to know how to spread your pins properly to keep those clicks coming. To outline your marketing plan, you need to set a daily or weekly goal. You should determine:

• How many images you want to pin each day
• Which boards to pin your pictures to
• Ways to spread the word about your Pinterest images
• Ways to share your content on various platforms
• What groups to join for better exposure
• What tools to use to maximize Pinterest for marketing

It would help if you gave yourself time to explore the platform, experiment with different pins, and check out different ways of distributing your content to know what works and what does not work for your business. Don’t be afraid to switch things up to break the monotony and see if these changes lead to better traffic. You can also check what strategies market leaders are using and implement some of these to your SEO campaign for better results.

Automate or Delegate Pinterest Tasks

Not all of us have the time to pin images manually all day. Thankfully, there are many content schedulers that you can use to automate specific pinning tasks, such as Hootsuite, Later, Tailwind, and Zoho social (my favourite is Tailwind!). You can set the automatic pinning partially or use full automation. When everything’s automated, you can spend less time on repetitive tasks.

If you’re wary of automating your Pinterest tasks, you can also hire a VA to do all the scheduling and pinning for you. Your VA could grow your business and take directions from you while focusing on other essential aspects of your business.
