I’ve been writing blog posts for many years now. First, I began writing them freelance for other people. Eventually, I began writing my own lifestyle blog and my blogging journey developed from there. There are many things I’ve learnt along the way. Today I am sharing what I wish I’d known before I started to blog (or at least implemented sooner).
There are 5 key points in the video which you can implement into your own blog, these will help you to grow as a blogger and also help your blog grow too.
Create your own niche – To stand out online it’s important to have your own niche. What sort of content do you want to be known for? Once you have worked it out, do more of it!
Be confident in your writing – Although I have a degree in Creative Writing, I was still unsure about my writing. No matter your writing level, embrace it and have confidence in your own content. This confidence will come across in your posts and will make your content more enjoyable for your readers.
Don’t worry about others – This can be a difficult one but in order to grow, you need to stop worrying about what other people think about you and your content. There will always be people who are negative but you need to not allow them to influence your decisions with your blog. Keep a positive mindset and just do it!
Be consistent – Consistency was something I struggled with in the early days of blogging. Once I became much more consistent I found both my confidence in sharing my blog and my followers/readers grew. This is because people knew I was reliable and they could see fresh content on a regular basis. Consistency is something I teach in Trigger Your Blog, my online course.
Have fun – Although you want to take your blog seriously, you can still have fun when blogging. This means you won’t lose your enthusiasm and the fun will show up in the content you are creating!
