4 Reasons you need a Side Hustle

I want to preface this by giving you my definition of a side hustle.

A side hustle is literally something you do on the side, usually online.

This is not a part-time job with another company but something you are running yourself.

Your side hustle could be absolutely anything. For instance, you could open an Etsy store, sell your clothes on eBay, create online courses, or even explore the world of peer-to-peer lending (although you will want to research the specifics behind how to lend to people so that it becomes profitable for you).

The misconception with having a side hustle or passive income is that you have to quit your job in order to do this.

But you don't!

In fact, you probably should stay at your 9-5 job while you're just getting started with your passive income source.

In this post, I'm going to give you four reasons you need a side hustle because it's become so much easier to start an online business or source of passive income than it used to be.

You can literally make an income from your phone!

4 Reasons You Need A Side Hustle

1. Financial Freedom.

Financial freedom, something we all strive for.

We look for 9-5 jobs that pay well, we search for jobs that will support our families and maybe we even work three jobs just to get by.

Not only that, the fear that our job could be taken away from us, or that we could get injured and be out of work for a while haunts us.

While your 9-5 job is usually a stable job with good pay, what if you had a job that you could do at home, during your free time.

In between your kid's naps or playtimes?

That's where a side hustle comes in.

You can make extra money in your very own home, so if something unfortunate happens like losing your job or getting injured and you're forced to work inside of the home, you can!

We all want to make extra money because life is unpredictable.

Having a side hustle can even give you extra money for extra trips with the family.

Romantic vacations with your significant other or maybe just a treat for yourself.

Having financial freedom is important so why not pick up something on the side that you can do 10 extra hours a week and make that little bit extra that helps you get by, or buys a vacation or is put away for your retirement.

We can literally make money from our phones in our free time, so it's a no-brainer!

2. Creative Outlet.

You know the feeling, working for someone else and having to go along with their projects, their ideas and do whatever they want you to do.

It doesn't leave a whole lot of freedom for your ideas to flow.

And if you're anything like me, being able to share my creativity is extremely important to me.

When I'm not able to be creative, I literally wilt away.

When you have your own side hustle, you're not usually working for anyone but yourself.

You get to decide what projects you do.

You get to decide the colors, the branding, how your customers will see it.

And you get to decide how to make your own money.

This is so so important for not only mental sanity but to get your creative juices flowing!

Even if you think you're not a creative person, you probably are!

We all enjoy thinking outside of the triangle every now and again.

And yes, I realize I said triangle instead of box.

Having an outlet for your creativity can also make your full-time job more appealing and enjoyable because you are able to get that creativity out at home and then at work, you get to let someone else be creative!

It's a win-win for both you and your boss!

3. You will learn a lot about yourself.

Whether you decide to own your business on the side or just take on a few smaller passive income sources, you are the only one in charge.

This will teach you time management because you have to juggle your full-time job, your family and your side hustle.

Don't get me wrong, this may sound like a lot to juggle but like I said, you can work on your side hustle during nap time, instead of watching T.v or when the kids are playing!

You're also going to learn what you are capable of.

The feeling of creating something all on your own and then getting paid for it is incredible!

It can boost your self-esteem and make you feel like you can take on the world!

Okay, sometimes I exaggerate but seriously, you are capable of so much more than you think you are and running a side hustle will teach you that.

4. You deserve to be happy in life.

Even if you work at the best job in the world, if your dream is to be your own boss, you won't feel fulfilled in your full-time job.

And I think the misconception is that you have to leave your job once you start passive income on the side, but you don't!

You can stay in your job until your side hustle takes off and it will!

Having passive income on the side will allow you the freedom to move on from your job if you choose to.

It gives you the freedom to be your own boss, set your own hours and create whatever you want to create!

When we create something that actually helps someone else, that's when we feel the most fulfilled and you deserve to be happy.

Why not build something that you will enjoy working on for years and years to come?

It's up to you how many side hustles or streams of passive income you choose to have, but I do recommend having multiple!

And I know that sounds like a lot but again, these aren't big businesses, these are things you can do a few hours a week to get a little bit more income each month!

I personally have four streams of income that I rely on each month!

Some of which are passive, meaning I set it up or create it once and then sell it without having to exchange time for money and some I do exchange time for money.

This is just what works best for me!

It's up to you to figure out what will work best, but it's extremely smart to have something on the side to fall back on because like I said, life can be unpredictable.
