As many of you may know, we have recently launched our semi-custom website design service, and it was my complete joy to have Rachel Harding as one of our first clients to take advantage of it. Rachel is a lawyer that specialises in family law, wills, estate planning, etc. When she first approached me I was a little nervous as I've not worked with this kind of business before. But Rachel was so sweet and had a clear vision of what she wanted, and she also gave me creative freedom over all of it. Together we have created a fantastic home for her online business and we did it together in only one week starting from our Riley Showit Template! Read all about her experience below.

Tell me a bit about your business and what brought you to start it in the first place?
My business is called Rachel Harding Legal Services. I offer estate planning services (wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate services, etc) and I also work as a freelance paralegal. I left my last job (a partnership) in March and have been itching to start up again as a sole trader ever since!
What is one lesson that you wish you knew from the beginning?
I wish I had been more decisive from the beginning about outsourcing my web-design to a third party! I wasted a lot of time and money trying the DIY options and I really wish I hadn't! I'm a complete control freak and was terrified that if I did anything other than try to cobble something together myself I would not be able to produce a site that was exactly as I had pictured. How wrong I was!
What was your “AH-HA” moment that made you take the plunge into this business?
I have been working in law for 20 years, and in this specific sector for six years, but I realised that if I took the scary and daunting step of venturing out on my own I could make the business work exactly as I think it should, without having to face diversions and suit other people's visions and plans!
Out of all the amazing designers out there, why did you decide to work with us?
Gillian's templates had been on my radar since I started looking into web design and brand ideas. When browsing on Creative Market every time I saw a template and thought ‘wow!', you can be sure it was one of Gillian's! I had to be certain that the person I chose to work with would really understand what I was trying to achieve and the look and feel I wanted for the site. After an initial chat with Gillian, I was certain that she had the skill and knowledge to understand what I wanted to achieve and I was not disappointed.
What was your favourite part of the design process?
Gillian scheduled a week in which to work solely on the design and creation of my site. I've not know anyone work in that way before and it worked like an absolute dream. Any questions I had were answered by Gillian extremely quickly – either by email or in one of her super-cool videos that she would quickly put together, like magic, just to answer my questions! – it was amazing! I enjoyed the whole week and loved watching my website come together each day, culminating on day 5 with the launch of my brand new site. I shared my new site on my Facebook and LinkedIn pages with absolute pride and the feedback has been incredible!
