Reading Time: 4 minutesThinking of putting together a stylish ebook for your blogging community? No better tool to start than Canva!
eBooks are notoriously hard to make but with Canva's drag and drop design, you can put together a beautiful ebook that you'd be proud to show off in minutes. That's assuming you've already gone ahead and created the copy in advance. If you haven’t, here’s a quick guide on piecing together an ebook:
The topic should be something that your readers would find interesting or helpful. You’ll need to brainstorm for ideas so go ahead and check what topics are trending in your industry and start from there.
You can do the writing online using Google Docs or write in MS Word. Wherever you choose to write the content of your ebook, be sure to conduct your research well, write in an engaging tone, proofread, and save your work.
This will involve conceptualizing the design on Canva, choosing the right format, and adding your branding elements to create an on-brand ebook. The ebook should be saved in PDF format so it's easier for readers to download.
eBooks are easy to sell online and even easier to create on Canva. As long as the content is useful, engaging, and helpful, you won't have trouble making money off pieces of digital content like ebooks.
If you want to get more people to sign up for our online course, membership site, or subscribe to your newsletter, offer an ebook as a freebie. An ebook makes a terrific freebie when you’re trying to position yourself as a market leader or influencer. People are more likely to give their email addresses if they get something out of it.
Creating an ebook as a part of a combo package will improve your sales. People love getting more for their money and offering better value will make your products even more irresistible to customers!
Now it’s just a matter of piecing the content together into a stylish ebook through Canva. Creating an ebook on Canva is a breeze! The platform has dozens of ebook templates to choose from. Each of these templates is customizable.
Step 1: If you haven’t already, you need to create a Canva account to start. Log into your Canva account then create a project template in A4 or US letter size.
Step 2: Go to the “Templates” tab, choose “eBook Templates,” and choose the ebook layout that you like. You can also click the “Custom Size” button and outline the dimensions manually.
Step 3: After choosing the layout, you have the option to use all the pages of that specific template or just one or two of the pages. If you like all the designs of the template you chose, click “Apply All Pages.” If not, you can customize the layout by removing certain design elements with the drag and drop feature.
Step 4: After that, you can copy-paste the content and then customize the design by changing the font, adding your logo, and changing the color scheme. Just click the text, background, or element that you want to change.
Step 5: When you’re done customizing your ebook, you can go ahead and download it. From the toolbar, click the file type you want to save, then tap the “Download” button at the bottom of the drop-down menu. Don’t forget to download it as a PDF print to maintain the highest resolution for the image, which is a DPI of 300.
If say, you’ve already created the ebook but you decided to add or delete a page, you definitely can. If you’re not changing the layout, just click the “Duplicate Page” option to add a new page. A page that features the same branding elements will be added to the ebook.
On the other hand, if you want a blank page with no layout, try hovering your cursor on the upper right of the project template. Click “Add Page” and a new blank page will be added under the current one you're working on.
To delete a current page, hover your cursor on the upper-right hand corner of the page and click the “Delete Page” icon. Deleting a page is necessary if you’ve exceeded the number of allowable ebook pages (100 pages) or if your editor wants to remove parts of the content. It’s definitely important to proofread and edit the ebook to shorten it and improve its quality.
An ebook has a lot of uses for promotions. You can create one as a freebie for your membership site, encourage people to join your email list, educate your readers, or provide exclusive content to a specific group of your tribe.
With Canva, it’s possible to create a gorgeous ebook that people would want to get without signing up for a Pro account. Get Canva today and start piecing together your first ebook!
