Reading Time: 3 minutesTake your email marketing campaign to the next level by making the most out of Flodesk's workflow feature. This feature lets you automate your email marketing efforts to shift your focus on other areas of the business. So let’s dig right in; here are essential information about Flodesk's workflow feature and how to set it up:
Flodesk’s workflow refers to the “flow” or sequence of actions that occur once a “trigger” has been set off. A good example would be sending bi-weekly or weekly promotional emails or newsletters. On Flodesk, this process is entirely automated.
The key to an effective email marketing strategy is timing. You need to get the timing right so that the promotional content you’re sending is sent out to the right people at the best times. Otherwise, your promotional email will be left unopened by recipients.
You can use Flodesk’s workflows and automation to deliver a series of emails to new, current, and old customers alike. Some of these promotional emails could include:
… and so much more! These incentives will drive more attention to your promo materials, incite excitement among your customers/readers, and bring in more sales.
Now that you know what a Flodesk workflow is, it’s time to set up one to step up your marketing campaign! Check out the step by step guide below:
Before creating the actual workflow, you need to set up a segment to organize your subscribers. You have to put all the subscribers who will go into the workflow in that segment because “adding a subscriber to this segment” will trigger the workflow. From the “Audience” category in your dashboard, go to Segments, create a segment, and choose a name.
The next step would be to create a form that will automatically add subscribers to the new segment you just created. From the “Forms” category, create a new form. Fill the form with a short content explaining what people will get once they sign up for the form just to keep things organized. You will be asked what segment to add people who sign up for the form from the form settings. Select the segment that you just created. You will get an embed code of the form, which you can copy-paste on your website. When that’s done, you can go to the next step: growing your email list!
Now you’re ready to create the workflow and set up the trigger. Go to “Workflows” and create a new workflow. Flodesk has loads of premade templates for the workflows, choose one and customize it.
Add time delays: You can set time delays between steps and emails so your subscribers won’t feel like being spammed with promotional emails. The time delay feature lets you set the hours, days, weeks before the next email is sent to subscribers. For instance, if your first email contains a freebie that subscribers could download, you can send a follow-up email with more information and ask how they found the freebie at, say, two days after.
Use Conditions: Just to make sure that the next step will continue only when a subscriber takes the desired action, set Conditions in your workflow. For example, the condition could be to send a follow-up email ONLY if the subscriber opened the first email. It’s a great feature that will help you determine which of your subscribers are 100% into whatever offer you’re pushing. For this feature, you can add as many steps into the workflows as you like. Adding more conditions lets you provide the right content to the right people. Go ahead and experiment with this one!
Combine Segments: It’s possible to combine segments in your workflows for a specific purpose, such as a welcome or nurture sequence. From the workflow, set the condition and action triggers, leading to the emails or actions you want the subscribers to walk through.
Workflow Duplicates: You can duplicate your workflows. This is a helpful feature if you want to reuse previous emails, tinker with the timing or swap up content to save time. You can also send more than one segment into your workflows if some subscribers are subscribed to both. They’ll only receive the email once.
Setting up a workflow in Flodesk is so easy, you don’t need technical know-how at all. Are you ready to elevate your email marketing campaign with Flodesk? Try it today and start sending beautiful emails worth opening!
