How to Make Money on Pinterest as an Affiliate Marketer

Reading Time: 3 minutes

One of the easiest ways to make money online is affiliate marketing. Imagine earning real cash from affiliate sales weekly; it’s a great side business!

While there are many platforms to try and earn passive income, nothing comes close to Pinterest in terms of ease of use and efficiency. With 445 million active users worldwide, Pinterest is one of the most popular yet underutilised social media platforms. And most of its users are young – between 25 to 34 years old.

You can leverage Pinterest’s global reach to create a recurring revenue stream through affiliate sales, even without a blog. How to use Pinterest to earn passive income this 2023? Here are some tips:

Why Choose Pinterest for Affiliate Marketing?

What makes Pinterest the perfect place for affiliate marketing? Here are just some of the many reasons why Pinterest gets a lot of love from affiliate marketers:

It generates massive referral traffic

For most people, Pinterest is a social media site, but the platform is so much more than that. Unlike most social media sites, Pinterest has gone beyond online socialisation and transformed into an image search engine. That’s key to its effectiveness as an affiliate marketing platform. Most importantly, Pinterest generates massive referral traffic. There’s no better place to build an affiliate revenue stream than Pinterest.

Long shelf life

Pins on Pinterest also have an incredibly long shelf life. A tweet becomes stale within minutes or hours. But pins could generate traffic for years. A pin you made six to one year ago could still generate passive income today! You can’t say the same thing with a tweet or shoutout.

You don’t need a blog to earn money online

While a blog is a plus, it’s unnecessary when using Pinterest for affiliate sales. You can start making money off affiliate products on Pinterest if you’ve got an affiliate marketing membership and affiliate links to promote. That said, we recommend having at least an email opt-in page or a YouTube channel to promote your affiliate products to drive more traffic from other sources if you don’t have a blog for promotions and SEO.

Most users look for new products/brands on Pinterest

Bet you didn’t know that Pinterest is giving Instagram a run for its money when it comes to brand and product discovery. About 80% of users go to Pinterest to search for or research a new brand or product.

Pinterest shoppers spend twice more per month than users from other platforms. Compared to other social media sites, Pinterest is perceived as the most influential platform for purchasing online. That’s why affiliate marketing on Pinterest is so profitable. Users are discovering products within the platform and have money to spend.

How to Make Money on Pinterest as an Affiliate Marketer

Start by signing up for a Pinterest account and adding your business details. Work on your pin folders and start preparing images to pin. You can start pinning to generate traffic if you have affiliate links to add to your pins.

Affiliate links can be embedded on a Pinterest image – copy + paste the affiliate link on the “Add a destination link” field whenever you upload a pin.

One important thing to remember when marketing on Pinterest is transparency. Let people know that you post sponsored content by toggling the button that says, “This is an affiliate link or sponsored product.”

Affiliate products marketed on Pinterest must have disclaimers of their commercial nature. Other than adding a disclaimer that a product is sponsored content, you can use hashtags like #ad or #affiliateproduct or indicate that your content is a paid partnership on the descriptions.

Automating Pinterest Marketing

Manually pin publishing can be taxing if you’re on your own, but this can be automated with a scheduler. Tools like Tailwind, for example, let you automate the pin publishing, so you don’t have to do this on your own.

How to Automate Your Pinterest Affiliate Marketing

To automate your Pinterest affiliate marketing, you need to automate your pins.

Batch create pins and load them into your social media scheduler. MeetEdgar integrates directly with Pinterest, so you can upload dozens of pins at a time and schedule them to go out days or weeks in advance.

Tailwind has a chrome extension that you can use to schedule your pins. Just click the extension, and a new window will pop up. From here, you can select the images you’d like to schedule and save them to drafts. Once scheduled, the pins will automatically go into the queue.

Making money on Pinterest is still profitable in 2023, so don’t miss out. With these tips, you can start making more sales with less effort through affiliate marketing on Pinterest.
