Asking questions on Instagram is a fantastic way to connect with your audience and learn more about them! Their answers can be a wonderful research tool for you to help you create even better content in the future.
When you ask questions you begin to open a conversation with your audience. It makes them feel more connected with you when they can answer.
What type of questions?
Keep your questions simple. Often on Instagram, I see accounts asking questions which want you to share something deep and personal or very specific which their audience might simply not have an answer for.
An example of simple questions is when you ask them a yes or no or to use an emoji for their response.
Questions which most people will have an answer for are also more likely to get some response such as “what are your weekend plans?”
Remember to Answer
If you’re asking people questions and they do answer ensure you respond to them to keep the relationship going. A like, an emoji or better yet a genuine reply all help to nurture your audience and help them to know you actually care about their response.
Do your best to respond to their comment sooner rather than later whilst you’re still on their mind. I can’t tell you how many times someone has replied to my comment a week or so later and to be honest, I’ve completely forgotten about what they asked and have moved on from the conversation.
No replies?
There might be times when you receive no answers to your question. This is ok and completely normal, don’t let it put you off. Ask another question on a different post.
When building a brand on Instagram it’s important to keep going. Keep asking questions and don’t quit at the first hurdle. If you keep asking, eventually you will receive a reply.
