If you already have an uncontrollable case of Wanderlust, look away now! Today I am so super excited to announce the launch of AML Travel Designs! A full-service luxury travel boutique that specialises in the needs and desires of the adventure traveler, ran by the lovely Tamika Korn.
Tamika found me on Instagram almost a year ago and – in the least creepy way – kept an eye out until she was ready to launch her business venture. We worked together to create a bespoke brand for AML Travel Designs, followed by a fully custom Showit website design.
I have personally loved every moment of working with Tamika. She is so sweet and honest, and I have absolutely no doubt that her business will “take off” *airplane pun intended*

Tell me a bit about your business and what brought you to start it in the first place?
I started AML Travel Designs because I wanted to pursue something I am passionate about, I worked in the corporate world directly after college and have been in technology forever. I was NEVER satisfied, no matter what position I was in or what company I was with or how much I was paid. The last job I found myself in was a chat department representative for people who were traveling and helping them get everything they needed for their trip setup, from a technology aspect. I would obsess over the details of their trip, asking all kinds of questions and at times making recommendations if it was a destination I was familiar with, like Jamaica. This is when I was bitten by the bug and started looking more into being a travel advisor, and from that, I went down this rabbit hole that I am still in because the travel industry is fascinating and ever-changing. The funny thing about it is when I announced to family and friends that I started a travel agency a friend of mine said that “in 2008 you told me you wanted to be a travel agent and I am so happy you are finally doing it”. It's amazing how life works because I forgot all about that.
What is one lesson that you wish you knew from the beginning?
The biggest lesson I have learned through all of this is to be more confident in myself. I know this is something I had to go through to grow and if I had been confident in myself when I started I would have started where I am when it came to my business vision. In the beginning, I was unsure and always second guessed myself, but I needed to go through that to figure who I am and why I do what I do. It has been the craziest year of self-discovery, but I have enjoyed every minute of it.
What was your “AH-HA” moment that made you take the plunge into this business?
It was something I have always wanted to do, but the birth of our son is what pushed me to pursue this and give it my all. I wanted to create a life for my family that allowed me to be present and never miss a moment of him growing up and a life that will help him grow into a kind, generous, understanding, worldly individual through travel by experiencing life in other parts of the world. My husband was and still is fully supportive of my vision and was the reason I was able to quit my full-time job to pursue this fully.
Out of all the amazing designers out there, why did you decide to work with us?
Well, I have been cyber stalking your Instagram account and website for almost nine months (creepy, not creepy haha) before I decided to go for it and although there was no defining moment when I decided, it just felt right. All of your work was nothing short of gorgeous and was never the same design. I was looking for someone who could bring all of the words and ideas I had in my head to life, and you more than delivered.
What was your favourite part of the design process?
My favorite part was the first time you sent me a sample of my branding. The colours and logo options you selected, I was in complete shock and awe when I saw how you took what I said in the questionnaire and interpreted it into something that far exceeded my expectations. It helped propel the rest of the experience we had together.
