Fletcher Creek Cottage is a DIY and home blog, owned by the amazing Dena Breitmeyer. Dena and her family have DIY'd and renovated an outstanding number of homes in their life, but their latest project is outstanding! They are building their dream home from an old farm cottage on a serious budget. I wish I could do all this girl does, she's starting to put Johanna Gains to shame! Tell me a bit about your business and what brought you to start it in the first place?
My name is Dena and I am the girl behind the Blog Fletcher Creek Cottage! I started my DIY/HOME website last year as a way to share my love of home decor, Interior design, construction, and DIY projects! After 18 years of renovating homes, and DIYing all kinds of things on a budget, I wanted to share my passion with the world in hopes to inspire anyone looking to do the same!
What is one lesson that you wish you knew from the beginning?
Oh my goodness! I spent an entire year building a website with NO clue what I was doing and I ended up not liking it anyway. I should have hired help from the beginning. I definitely wasted too much time just trying to figure it out on my own!
What was your “AH-HA” moment that made you take the plunge into this business?
After years of designing, decorating, and DIY renovating homes I started sharing my DIYs on Instagram! I was getting SO many questions that I knew the next step was to start a website! I had a lot of blogging friends telling me to “Go for it” and that was all the push I needed to jump in!!! I am so glad I did! It's the PERFECT fit for me!
Out of all the amazing designers out there, why did you decide to work with us?
There are a lot of amazing designers, yes, and I did go through quite a few consults before finding Gillian Sarah! A good friend of mine recommended Gillian Sarah to me and after seeing her work I knew right away I wanted to work with her! I am SO grateful I was able to work with Gillian Sarah! She made my website SHINE!
What was your favourite part of the design process?
When I contacted Gillian Sarah I wasn't quite sure how I wanted my website to look. I wanted it to reflect ME, but I wasn't great at communicating what that looked like. I was so impressed with Gillian and how she was SO patient with me and how she was able to really create a beautiful website that reflected my style PERFECTLY! Working with Gillian Sarah was a dream! She is AMAZING!
