Reading Time: 3 minutesGreat packaging is all about giving it that extra consideration as a business. It is not just a protection for your product during transportation and longer storage but also a means of identification.
A cosmetics packaging supplier will give all aspects of packaging thought so that they satisfy everyone involved in the process of cosmetics selling.
Glass packaging will often be used to accommodate and protect perfume as well as make-up and skincare products. It has the properties as a material to prolong the shelf-life of cosmetics products. This is because it will not allow seeping through. After all, it is non-porous. Glass also provides the perfect seal in terms of preventing oxygen exposure.
With glass, we can be assured that no contamination will occur with a product. It can also be recycled. Its only downside is that it is heavier than all plastics and breakable. A tough glass can help with the latter to ensure fewer breakages.
The most common types of plastics used in cosmetic packaging are known as PP. Other plastics used will include PET as well as acrylic ingredients. In appearance, acrylics have the appearance of glass although will not break like glass will. It can therefore have that more luxurious look but with increased safety. Having said that, plastic can be tinted, depending on the type of material, to have a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Tinplate and aluminium will be used in cosmetics packaging. Think aerosol cans of hairspray. Other cosmetics that will benefit from metal packaging will include creams, powders, and balms. Aluminium is a good material for cosmetics because it does not pose any risks in terms of human health. The FDA has approved aluminium powder as being safe as a cosmetic colourant. Aluminium is also recyclable and free from corrosion and contaminants. Metal in general has durability and is a long-lasting material. It is interesting to note that of all the metals that have been minded during the last 250 years, nearly all are still in use in some form today.
There is no doubt that packaging plays a big part in indicating the quality of a cosmetic product to its buyer. Usually, if the packaging is of quality, so is the product inside. A consumer will look for packaging that is attractive, dependable, and well-constructed. Therefore, businesses look for packaging solutions such as customizable shipping boxes that ensure that the packaged product arrives at its destination in pristine condition.
Packaging is only as good as customers believe. They are the judge of the state the final product arrived in. How purposeful packaging was and how well-received might have been indicated by the relative who was given it as a present.
Packaging needs to withstand the weight of its contents, as well as protect the product during storage and transportation from damage or dust. For instance, there is an interesting article here on tape and reel packaging and how it is the most reliable method of storing or transporting components. It explains why tape and reel have sat at the forefront of packaging options for many years. The high-impact polystyrene gives added strength and durability. Indeed, durability is one of the most important aspects of packaging. Then after this is established the product can benefit from greater shelf life because of the material that contains it. A perfume or food will deteriorate more quickly when not in the correct container. This has been proven when longevity was measured.
The packaging out there can be about adequate, or it can tick all the boxes. Packaging that satisfies everyone will be protective enough to ensure a product survives until the end of its journey, which is when it reaches the final customer successfully. It is important what the customer will think about the packaging and that is when the quality of the materials should spell luxury to all that receive it. Quality can therefore represent strength and greater aesthetic appeal.
Packaging must have durability so that it will be used again. It will soon be found out if complaints are being received by those not receiving a cosmetic product, for example, in perfect condition.
