Reading Time: 2 minutesIf you're like most business owners you probably agree that running a business is hard work. Sometimes you can feel it if you are running a race that is endless. It is especially difficult if you are a startup and a solopreneur.
Even if you have other employees it can still feel as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders many days. One way to help this feeling is simply to declutter your office space. It can be good for your mental health.
It doesn't have to be difficult, all you have to do is make sure that you have a plan in place that is strategic. With that being said, here are some major tips that you can use to get the job done right.
One of the first things you're going to want to do if you're trying to declutter your office is to take inventory of what you do have. Don't be afraid to throw things out if necessary.
Create three piles in your office to make things easier. Create a pile that is called “keep”, another should be called “donate” and the final one should be called “toss away”.
When you start going through all the items you may find that a lot of stuff you thought you needed, you don't.
Did you know that the current layout of your office could be what is contributing to your cluttered environment? You want to make sure that you have a layout that makes it easy for people to move around.
You don't want people bouncing into desks and chairs and stubbing their toes on them as they try to get from one place to the other. This can lead to workplace injuries which can result in lawsuits that can break the piggy bank of your business and cause you to have to cough up a lot of cash.
If possible add shelves to the walls if you can. This will give you more space for storage and reduce clutter.
The bottom line is that you should make the environment as safe as possible as an employer. It's your responsibility.
With all the items that you plan to keep, it's a good idea to double-check them. Make sure that you need these items.
If you would like to keep some of the items but have no space to accommodate them in the office. Then by all means rent a storage space and keep your precious items in there. You can always find tips on using self-storage to help you make good choices.
You don't have to part with them especially if you feel that you're going to need them later on in your journey.
Are you ready to ascend to the realms of the neat, organized, and tidy when it comes to your office space? As you can see it's not that difficult to do, all you have to do is make sure that you start removing from the environment the things you don't need. Put things you do need storage and create a layout that is easy to navigate.
