Reading Time: 2 minutes
For me, blogging is one of my favorite creative outlets. Yes, it’s changed over the years since I wrote my first blog post in 2011, but it can still be a great way to grow your own brand online. When I first started blogging, I wanted to talk about everything. Anything I had done, different topics that interested me & there was undoubtedly no cohesion to my various blog posts.
I trudged on like this for a while, not knowing why people weren’t reading & never quite sure what to blog about next.
Until I realized I needed to think about my audience.
A blog for your readers
Have you ever thought about your readers instead of writing your blog posts for yourself? Who are you looking to attract & what will they want to read?
Once I began to work this out, my lifestyle blog grew. Finally, I was writing with an audience in mind & giving them the content they were looking for.
Of course, you have to write about what you enjoy. Otherwise, it will get stale quickly, but once you add in knowing your audience, it will help you with 2 things.
The first is it will help you know what blog posts to write. You will know your topics, what your audience is interested in & you will always have content to share.
Secondly, you will attract people to your blog who are interested in what you are sharing, thus building a community around your blog. They will become loyal superfans because you’re talking to them, and providing information that they want input on. This will generate engagement from comments and shares.
This small switch can make a huge difference for you & your brand.
