Making decisions to benefit your team in the workplace is one of the main roles of a business owner. However, it’s also a difficult one. Your employees are going to be widely different people with different needs both inside and outside of work – how are you meant to meet them all? As their boss, it’s up to you how well equipped they are to meet the requirements of the job at hand! What can you do? Institute a bit of clever planning and a proper workplace benefits program. Here are some ideas on what to include.
Trust Them to Work Remotely
Remote working is the greatest kind of flexibility you can get in the workplace. Long gone are the days when everyone needed to be in the office at all times. These days we have strong internet connections and more communication apps than ever. Trusting your employees to use both is a good sign of your company’s modernisation, as well as your ability to allow them to use their initiative. Lay some sharp ground rules for the way your remote setups work, but make sure you’re incorporating it for workplace wellness.
Track Different KPIs
It’s easy to track things by the time it takes to complete them. Similarly, it’s easy to track your employees’ time on the clock and confuse it with just how productive they’re being. However, that isn’t quite how things work! Human beings can be productive for anywhere between half an hour and 2 hours, on average, and an 8 hour shift could mean next to nothing gets done! So track different KPIs to see how well your team is performing, and whether or not they need more direction or intervention from you.
Set Up an EAP
When it comes to workplace wellness, using eap services is the cream of the crop. Allowing your employees to access mental health support within the workplace is very good for raising morale and making it much easier to turn up in the morning. And when your employees are going through bad phases, when their absenteeism is at an all time high, you yourself can call a support worker in. It truly benefits everyone involved!
Lead From the Front
Set an example for the best results. When you’re the best person for the job, you can instil that same idea in the people who follow you. After all, you clearly practise what you preach and are capable of being a strong link in the company chain. You wouldn’t believe how many managers struggle to keep this up! But when you make an effort to be different, your team is going to make a similar effort. Make sure you keep this in mind above all else; when you’re on the ground with them, you understand where they’re coming from and what needs to happen next.
If you want to benefit your employees in the workplace, make use of practical tips and tricks like these. They’ll take you far!
