Reading Time: 3 minutesSome days you’re bursting with innovative solutions and business ideas and then, there are days when you’re wracking your brain for ideas and get nothing.
Hey, every entrepreneur has good days and bad days!
The best business ideas come from a creative entrepreneur's mind. And creativity is not something that comes with a snap of a finger. It’s something that flows naturally and freely. The thing with creativity is that it comes in different places and most times, a good idea pops up at the most inopportune moment. When you finally have time to sit down and explore an idea, you can't remember it! How do you stimulate creativity and come up with great business ideas? Try these tips:
How many times did you think about a bright idea only to forget about them seconds later? Too many times to count? If the answer is yes then perhaps it’s time to get back to taking notes. You can bring a notebook and a pen with you if you want to take notes the old-fashioned way or use your mobile phone to list down great ideas anytime and anywhere. Every time a random idea pops in your head, take notes. You can explore the idea later when you’re ready to brainstorm.
Going through the motions is the best way to stay organized. This goes especially for people juggling so many things at once – like a budding entrepreneur such as yourself. But routines tend to make life predictable and if you want to become an innovator, you need to change things up in your life to bring in great ideas. A change would definitely do you good!
This doesn’t mean you should make drastic changes in your daily lives or abandon your routines completely. Just change some habits to increase your productivity and creativity.
For example, if you spend the bulk of your mornings making breakfast, try visiting your favorite cafe for breakfast or taking Fido for a short walk then grabbing a bite to eat. If you have time during weekends, take a new hobby, like gardening. Adding new activities to your every day might just be the thing you need to solve persistent problems at work in the most creative way.
Connecting with the right people will take your business farther than you ever thought possible. Think about it, if your world is too small, you won’t be able to meet different people. You’ll never know different opinions, share experiences, exchange ideas, etc., all of which stimulate creativity. By expanding your network, you will come across people whose ideas, beliefs, and experiences you’ll find helpful in growing a more resilient, successful business.
So go ahead and look for ways to widen your network and nurture connections with people. You can go online and connect with market leaders, follow fellow entrepreneurs, or simply engage with people in the comments section. You’ll learn how to build a successful brand from people you meet on these platforms.
Wherever you go and whatever you do, find ways to do things differently to break the monotony and discover new ways of doing the same old! Start with something small, like your usual route at work. Try a different route once and see where it takes you. Be observant, see how different people do things differently, and give it a spin. You might like it, you might hate it, but you’ll learn from the experience. Take a look at an old product, look at it from a different perspective. Think of the different ways to use the product and market it as such, see where that takes you. No matter if the experience was a failure or a success, it will definitely generate new business ideas!
Research shows that certain places stimulate creativity. If you have the time, find inspiration from activities that you do every day. Taking a bath, driving the car alone, drinking tea at a coffee shop, walking on the beach, etc.
The thing is, inspiration is everywhere. As long as you are paying attention, a good business idea will come to you when you least expect it. You just have to get rid of distractions and recognize an opportunity when it presents itself. Don’t wait for a business trip or a night out with friends to find inspiration and come up with cool business ideas.
Increasing or inspiring creativity will differ from person to person. Some find inspiration in new places, others find inspiration in everything they do. Observe everything around you, ask questions, look at every situation with curious eyes, and practice mindfulness to spark creativity from within.
