I know what it's like; you sit down to write your next blog post and stare at the blank screen and the blinking cursor on your computer for hours, hoping for an idea to come to you! I've been there, but it doesn't happen anymore as I've developed different ways to stay inspired, keep track of my content ideas, and always have something to share.
Today I am sharing my 5 tips to always make sure you have content ideas for your blog.
1 – Keep a list
Find somewhere to keep a list of all of your ideas, whether this is a notebook or using the notes on your phone. Personally, I love to use Evernote, and I have it synced to my computer and phone, so no matter where I am, when I think of a great blog post idea, I can make a note of it for future use. There have been countless times where I've thought, “that's a great idea. I'll remember that,” only to never remember it again! By keeping a list of ideas, you will always have something to work with.
2 – Create your Topics
In a previous post, I shared how it's a good idea to list the topics you write about and decide on a rough order you want to share them. For example, your topics might be makeup tutorials, hairstyles, and style posts. Alternating these topics gives you a basis for what to talk about in your next post. For example, if the following post is scheduled for a style post, you have a starting point for something to work with.
3 – Use Instagram
Did someone share a great quote or share a post you'd like to expand on and share your opinion on Instagram? Use the save posts to feature on Instagram to use other people's posts as a place of inspiration. This isn't to copy, but you can use what someone else shared to kickstart your own conversation.
4 – Ask your audience
Do you always get asked similar questions? Answer these in a blog post and if you haven't received any questions, ask your audience a question on social media. What do they need help with? What would they like to learn from you? Asking the people who like your content what they want to know is a great way to increase engagement.
5- Remember the Old You
If you like to teach and share your own experiences, think about what you wish you'd have known a couple of years ago or what you've had to learn to get you where you are today. By remembering what the old you were looking for a few years ago, you can help other people who might be in a similar position today.
These are my 5 top tips to ensure you always have some content to share on your blog so you will no longer be looking at that blank screen!
