Reading Time: 4 minutesMarketing, that dreaded word.
For the first few years of my business, I was terrified of that word.
I avoided marketing like the plague, which is probably why I didn't end up keeping those businesses…
But I digress.
Although it's a “scary” word and can sound confusing and overly complicated I'm going to break it down and show you three ways you can market your online business like a boss.

Surprise surprise, blogging comes up again.
There's a reason though and it's not just that blogging is the bomb.com.
Your blog can be an incredible asset when it comes to marketing your online business especially when you first start out.
Think of your blog as a digital business card.
You are showing your audience that you know your stuff because if you're blogging for your business then you are most likely talking about your expertise in that field.
Well, that's what you should be doing anyway.
And if you're not read this.
When you create a blog that pertains to your business you are giving your audience highly valuable content for free.
And we all love free, don't we.
But this is one of the best ways to show your audience you know your stuff.
They're also able to get to you know a bit better, you're just a product or whatever, you're a real person behind the screen.
A blog can also create that know, like and trust factor that every business needs to thrive.
You can also link to relevant products and services that will be of even more value to your audience within your blog posts opening the door for their business.
You can very easily link your relevant products and services with your blog posts as well!

Another way to market your business through blogging is through guest posting and collaborations with other bloggers.
Such as interviews on their blogs and writing guest posts for larger blogs to get your name out there.
The reason I chose Pinterest instead of all social media, is because Pinterest is much easier to use when you are first starting out.
And Pinterest is actually a search engine..so there's that.
The thing with Pinterest is that it's basically just a huge billboard adverting you.
And a whole bunch of other people but Pinterest is one of the best ways to drive traffic back to your blog AND business.
Next to Google of course.
The reason Pinterest works so well is because your content doesn't really ever go away.
The average lifespan is a few months compared to a few measly minutes or even seconds on some social media platforms.
And the content you post on Pinterest if keyworded correctly can actualy be picked up by Google as well. Giving you an extra marketing boost.
This means, with the right strategy, you can be sending traffic to your business months after you post a single piece of content.
That's my kind of marketing strategy.
Pinterest while 150 billion percent worth it, is a long game and takes a solid strategy for it to work.

My third and final way to market your new online business is Facebook groups.
Facebook groups have to be my favorite way to connect and network with other bloggers on social media.
The fun part is, if you find the right groups, you can really generate a ton of traffic back to your business or blog while also meeting some really incredible and driven people in your niche.
The key with Facebook groups is to follow the rules, don't be spammy, annoying or pushy.
Just be helpful!
If you see a question that you know the answer to, answer it without asking for anything in return.
When you are active and helpful, people will come back to you and that is how you begin to build yourself as an expert in your field and drive even more traffic back to your business.
You can also find Facebook groups with different promo days.
They have promo days for Pinterest, blogs, sharing your latest product, you get the point.
These are again, really incredible for driving traffic back to your blog or your business.
This is really where you showcase your business and really market what you have and this works whether you are a seasoned professional or just getting started.
Again, just make sure to follow the rules and help each other out, that's what these groups were created for.
The whole point of marketing is to build a relationship with your audience.
Once you can do that, your business will begin to take off.
I'm sure you've heard of the saying, “jab, jab, jab, right hook.”
I believe Gary Vaynerchuck was the one quoted saying this.
You have to serve, serve, serve, then offer.
Not the other way around.
This is an important lesson to learn when you first start out in business because you want to start making money, but be patient, build a solid relationship with your audience and then make the offer.
