How to get the most ROI with Pinterest

Your brand new, you know you want to get your blog out there, so you try Pinterest and you just wind up frustrated, confused and more lost now than you thought you were before.

Sound familiar?

You’re reading all these strategies about Pinterest but it’s not just working out.

You’re not seeing the blog traffic you want from Pinterest, you’re not getting the followers and frankly, you’re not getting the results you thought from all this work you’re putting in.

It’s like a bad relationship where you’re putting in all the work and Pinterest isn’t giving you anything in return. (not even a thank you?? what the heck!)

Alright, I get it and I’m going to help you change that.

I understand how busy you are and frankly, you don’t have time to put in hours and hours a day to not see results.

So what exactly are the tasks you need to focus on to get the most traffic, grow your blog, make a bigger impact and influence and actually make some income?

How to Get the Most ROI (return on investment) with Pinterest

 

1. Use a Business Profile

I know, I know, you hear this all the time and yet, here it is again.

Business profiles on Pinterest are free to use, they give you analytics, you’re able to create rich pins that give more information about your pins and posts and they look more professional overall.

Seriously, if you don’t do anything else on Pinterest, at least set up a business profile.

 

2. Utilize Keywords Everywhere

Pinterest is not the place to get cute and quirky.

Because Pinterest is a search engine the easiest way to get the most out of Pinterest is to utilize keywords that your audience is searching for.

Use these keywords in your board titles and descriptions, your name and description, your pins descriptions.

Literally everywhere you possibly can, use keywords.

Pinterest makes it really easy to find keywords that pertain to your niche which tells you how much more important keywords really are.

To find keywords on Pinterest, go to the search bar at the top of the page and type in a single word or a string of words that your audience would be searching for, ie. gardening.

 

Pinterest will then come up with more keywords that people are searching for with the term “gardening”.

You can use these keywords everywhere on Pinterest and when someone searches that term your post will be more likely to show up in their feed.

 

3. Create New/Alternate Pins for Posts and Pins On Pinterest

Pinterest has said on multiple occasions the algorithm prefers or favors new pins and fresh content.

Lucky for us, fresh content doesn’t mean churning out ten brand-spankin’ new blog posts a week, it can also mean creating new/alternate pins for posts and pins that are already on Pinterest.

This is a much easier pill to swallow.

In order for this to work, you’re going to have a very clear understanding of what you want to happen with Pinterest.

To get the biggest ROI from Pinterest focus on these main pins/posts:

• Posts that make you money
• Posts that drive a large amount of traffic
• Email list building posts
• Pins that are already doing well on Pinterest ie. going viral or getting a lot of click-throughs

Of course, the types of posts you create new pins for are going to depend on what conversions you want from Pinterest, such as, if you have a post that has affiliate links or products and your goal is to make money, make more versions of pins for that post.

And so on.

 

You can change the color of your pins, change the description for the pin, add a new text overlay or even just change the image you used on the pin.

Creating new pins for posts that are already doing well on Pinterest is going to give you a boost in the Pinterest algorithm, meaning, your pins will be seen more by your followers, which will drive more traffic to your blog.

This one step will give you the most ROI on Pinterest and is highly, highly recommended.

 

4. Use Tailwind & Tailwind Tribes

Tailwind is a Pinterest approved scheduling app that pins your pins to Pinterest for you.

You can schedule a week or even months worth of content in less than a few hours, set it and forget it.

Do you absolutely have to use Tailwind to be successful on Pinterest?

Nope.

Tailwind like anything else is a tool you can use to save you time and make your Pinterest marketing easier which helps you get the most out of Pinterest for less time.

If you are planning to use Pinterest for marketing your blog, the last thing you want to be doing is spending hours a day pinning.

That’s frankly not a good use of your time.

Pinterest is also cracking down on people pinning the same pin over and over again to the same board.

While we don’t actually know how long in between each pin Pinterest wants, Tailwind will tell you when the last time you pinned your pins to each board which helps you avoid looking like spam in Pinterest’s eyes.

This works really well to keep those pins going out onto Pinterest even after they’ve died down a little bit.

 

5. Create New Niche Boards

As I’ve said, Pinterest loves new content, they love pinners who are consistent and pinners who are active on Pinterest.

One of the ways to ensure you are spreading out your pins, to get more keywords associated with your Pinterest profile and to help your audience find your boards is to create new niche boards.

Let’s say you have a gardening board as your main board, from there you could make these boards:

• gardening for beginners
• backyard gardening
• rose gardening tips
• vegetable gardening

You can do this for all of your boards no matter your niche.

This strategy works really well because even though you may have the same pins on “gardening for beginners” and “vegetable gardening”, it’s another spot for your audience to see your pin, it doesn’t look spammy to Pinterest and you have more boards to pin the same pins.

 

The Basics Win

Here’s the thing, none of these things are earth-shattering, they’re not crazy overly-complicated and guess what, Pinterest doesn’t need to be.

The basics with Pinterest will *every *single *time, again and again.

1. Focus on turning your account into a business account. One of the easiest things to do.

2. Utilize keywords every single place you can on Pinterest

3. Use keywords that your audience is actually searching for, don’t just wait for them to stumble upon you by chance.

4. Create multiple pins a week and disperse them across your boards via Tailwind and utilize Tailwind Tribes to your most active pins 1-2x a week to keep them going.

5. Make new niche boards based on your other boards to give yourself a new place to pin your pins and add more keywords and opportunities for people to find your pins and blog posts.
