Reading Time: 2 minutesCleaning up your email list might seem unthinkable for some, but it will benefit your marketing campaign down the line. And if you’re using Flodesk, organizing your email list is almost effortless. It only takes a few minutes to do it!
The idea of scrubbing your email list might seem almost inconceivable after all the time and effort you put into growing it in the first place. But routine clean-ups will improve your clickthrough rates and conversions because you’ll be able to determine who your engaged subscribers are.
You see, not everyone on your list will maintain the same level of interest in the content that you send out, not even your most exclusive content. And if you’re not making an impact on people who are genuinely interested in your content, they are more likely to report your email messages as spam.
In addition, organizing and cleaning your email list will reduce bounce rates. Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who navigate away from a website after only viewing a single page. By cleaning up your email list, you’ll be able to attract people who are genuinely interested in your offers.
Finally, you need to clean your email list to boost conversions. When you’re sending exclusive content to people who are 100% interested in your business, you are more likely to get more sales.
Some services offer paid service for email scrubbing, and the expense will depend on the size of the email list. Thankfully, you don’t need to pay for this service if you’re on Flodesk. Email cleaning is totally free and easy; here’s a step by step guide how:
The CSV file contains the emails, which must be uploaded to Flodesk, where it will be processed. The CVS file will verify the emails using Flodesk’s proprietary technologies – the process includes syntax validation, inbox availability, spam trap detection, role email detection, etc.
Once the processing has been completed, you will receive a notification from the service. The notice outlines how many subscribers were added to your email list and which addresses were filtered out by Flodesk’s Email Validation API. From there, you can start using the email list for marketing.
Before you clean your email list, you need to know which ones to eliminate in the first place. To find the least engaged subscribers from your email list, use Flodesk’s filter feature.
Filter the active subscribers. Check the last activity timeframe; the least active subscribers are those who have not engaged with your emails for quite a while – 6 months and older. Bulk select individuals who haven’t actively engaged with your emails and add to a new segment (Cold Leads).
You can email these subscribers and ask them if they are still interested in your email messages or conduct a re-engagement campaign if they still are; otherwise, delete the emails.
Even if your email list is new, it won’t do your business any good if you’re still emailing people who are clearly not interested in your marketing messages. And you definitely don’t want to be tagged as a spammer or get complaints from sending “unwanted” emails either. Cleaning up your email list should be done at least twice per year, and luckily, email scrubbing is so easy on Flodesk.
