Reading Time: 2 minutesYou’ve started a brand new blog which is really exciting, but you can’t then sit back and expect people to find you – You need to go out there and share it with the world to bring readers to your blog.
Once you have a blog, you need to start creating content there consistently. Creating new content will keep bringing people to your blog, and also it will help you be found through search engines like Google. In addition, regular content shows those readers it’s worth their time to return to your blog to continue to learn, be inspired, and get to know you.
Sharing your blog on social media is a great and free way to share your new blog. It’s not instant, but by sharing your blog and recent posts, you will be able to start o drive new readers to your blog. Over time you will begin to notice that platforms are performing best for you, so you can focus on them.
Begin to drill down and find your target audience. Think about the age, gender, location, hobbies of your target audience. You can create more blog posts they will like, but you will also begin to speak to them via your social media. You will get the right people looking at your blog by speaking directly to your target audience.
Create a list of around 10 blogs similar to you, blogs you would like to achieve success, and emulate – Not copy! Analyzing what they are regularly doing can help you decide on the best way to promote your blog.
Sending out a press release around the launch of your new blog or any collaborations you are working on to the local press and online media can be another way to create exposure for your new blog.
Check to see if your blog looks appealing and check it’s easy to navigate. A great way to do this is to have someone else look at your site and watch them move around on it. Are links working? Can they find what they need?
Does your blog, social media, email marketing all match? I someone stumbles upon you, is there cohesion across all the platforms? By having this, you look professional, and If you’re talking to your target audience (see point 3) on all the different platforms, you are more likely to create a long-term reader as they will feel you understand them!
Those are the 7 top tips to do with your brand new blog and continue to do as you start to grow. However, if you find you are struggling to gain traction with your blog, it could be that one of these points is out of alignment.
