Reading Time: 3 minutesOwning your own business is like planing a garden.
It's beautiful on the outside and everyone that is looking at it from afar falls in love and decides to start planting their own garden.
But what they don't see is what's going on underneath.
The roots are forming and anchoring it to the ground.
It needs certain things to survive let alone thrive.
Let's just be honest here, building your own and being an entrepreneur is glamorous as all heck on the outside but once you take the deep dive into it it's not as easy as it appears.
Alright great, so you're feeling a bit unmotived lately.
Maybe you're feeling like success is just taking too long or you're feeling tired and uninspired.
First of all, it happens to everybody.
But what can you do about it?
The unfortunate or fortunate reality depending on how you want to look at it is that everyone feels unmotivated at one time or another in their lives.
This isn't anything new.
But the first step in overcoming these feelings of self-doubt or uninspired feelings is to realize you need to start changing the story you are telling yourself.
Raise your hand if you've had a really bad break-up and it hurts so bad and all you want to do is lay in bed or stand in the rain.
And when you're friends come by and try to get you to come out with them you refuse and continue the cycle of standing in the rain and getting deeper and deeper into that pain you feel.
But maybe, just this one time you decided to go out with your friends anyway even though you weren't feeling so hot and guess what?
Your mood lifted and uh…shhh..don't tell anyone but you HAD FUN.
So for the next few days, you relive those fun times with your friends and you begin to tell yourself that you're okay.
And soon enough, you actually begin to believe it too.
The point is, the more you tell yourself how unmotived you are the more you are going to be unmotived.
Stop giving yourself negative affirmations because that's what you'll believe.
And then when your business doesn't work out it'll just reaffirm the story you told yourself.
Our subconscious minds believe whatever story we are telling ourselves whether it's true or not.
So, yeah, tell yourself you constantly have ideas flowing, you are successful at whatever business venture you've chosen for yourself and you are filled with persistence and determination to keep moving forward.
This is something I constantly go back to whenever I'm feeling less than motivated and it works.
I'm pretty sure every single successful business person ever has said, “remember your why”, “know your why”, “understand your why” or something along those lines.
Why?
Because your “why” is the whole reason you started this business in the first place.
Even if that why is to just make some extra money to feed your family.
It doesn't matter what your why is as long as you understand it, know it and utilize it throughout your business.
Seriously, every single day before you even begin for the day, sit back for just a few minutes and remember why you are doing this and it will drastically help you.
Look, I could sit here for 3,000 words and give you all the tips and advice I have about getting motivated and building your dream business but ti won't matter unless your persistence and tenacity are stronger than the desire to stop.
It's up to you to keep moving forward even if it's tough and even if that means taking a half a step forward.
At least you're still moving.
Just realize, there will probably be times when you don't want to do this anymore.
But you know what, you're the only one that decides to show up.
And what people don't realize is that showing up can be 10x harder when as an entrepreneur.
There's no boss that's going to fire you.
There are no other employees to look at you sideways when you walk into work 2 hours late.
You and only you can keep yourself accountable.
Did you find these tips helpful to keep pushing forward to achieve your goals even if you are feeling unmotivated?
Leave me a comment and let me know what you do to help yourself achieve your business goals when you are feeling unmotivated and share with a friend you care about that you think needs a little kick in the butt to keep going.
Trust me, they'll appreciate it!
