When KariAnne Wood from Thistlewood Farms reached out about designing a Shopify store for her newest venture, I was absolutely thrilled! I've known KariAnne for years, and collaborating with her and her daughters on this heartfelt project was nothing short of a dream. Together, we launched Thistlewood & Co, a charming online boutique brimming with handcrafted goods and small business treasures.
The Challenge: Building a Boutique Shopify Store with Heart
The mission? Create a custom Shopify website that was as vibrant, joyful, and full of life as the women behind it. KariAnne wanted a Shopify store design that felt like an extension of their brand, warm, welcoming, and just a little bit whimsical.

We set out to build a site that was clean and easy to navigate while still bursting with personality. As their Shopify website designer, we developed the entire store from the ground up, ensuring every element reflected the boutique's unique story.
To capture their signature charm, we created a palette of friendly pinks and blues, layered with custom hand-drawn thistle illustrations for that playful, personal touch. Every detail, from product pages to checkout, was crafted to make shoppers feel right at home.

Interactive Best Sellers Section
One of my favorite features we built is the dynamic best-sellers showcase on the homepage. Shoppers can toggle between curated collections; Home, Linens, Stationery, Vintage, Kitchen, and Handmade, to discover Thistlewood & Co's most-loved items in each category. This interactive element keeps the homepage fresh and helps customers find exactly what they're looking for without endless scrolling.
Shop by Collection
We designed beautifully branded collection cards that invite customers to explore themed product groups. Each collection can tell its own story, and also be swapped out per season, or whenever the girls have a new collection they want to feature. The soft polka-dot background and elegant typography create that signature Thistlewood warmth throughout the browsing experience.
Brand Story Section with Heart
The “About” sections throughout use custom hand-drawn thistle illustrations to frame the family's story in a visually engaging way. The layout balances storytelling with clear calls-to-action, guiding visitors to learn more about the family behind the boutique or meet their featured makers.
